Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella was hit with a three grid position penalty by the race stewards, when he was found to have exited the pit-lane at red lights, at the start of the first free practice session of the Turkish Grand Prix, on Friday.
This means that the Italian driver will now drop down three grid positions at the start of the race, from where ever he qualifies on Saturday. This will be a big blow to the aspirations of the Force India F1 team, which have been struggling in the season so far.
Vijay Mallya, the flamboyant liquor baron, is the owner of the team which he bought last year from Spykar F1. Adrian Sutil is the other driver in the team while Vitantonio Liuzzi is the test driver.
