Kings XI Punjab were comfortable winners against Bangalore Royal Challengers as the Mohali team routed their opposition by 9 wickets.
In what was supposed to be another test for Rahul Dravid’s men, they started well as Virat Kohli and Misbah gave them a decent start. But once Misbah was out hit-wicket, then the Royal Challengers lost their way. The Punjab team’s bowling also played their part as Sreesanth took three wickets and Piyush Chawla grabbed two. Irfan Pathan bowled superbly to return an economy of just under six.
In reply to a paltry target of 144, Kings XI started well, with James Hopes and Shaun Marsh being solid at the top. Once Hopes was out, it became the ‘Shaun Marsh Show’ as he scored boundaries with ease and was ably supported by Luke Pomersbach, who was playing his first match in the tournament. Bangalore have now lost seven out of their nine games.
Time for Dravid and Kumble to retire.
