In what was a decisive match for the two teams, Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata knight Riders by six wickets in just 16.3 overs to book their semi final berth, while almost knocking out Ganguly’s men.
Shane Warne won the toss and put Kolkata into bat. It appeared as if the Knight Riders were simply trying too hard as almost every one got a start but weren’t able to convert it to a real big one. Ganguly and Butt both got starts as well as did Saha but nobody played a decisive innings and thus they were restricted to just 147 runs. Tanvir and Munaf bowled well taking 3 & 2 wickets respectively.
Rajasthan Royals had a shaky start were reduced to 42 for 3 and then 69 for 4, but Mohd. Kaif remained strong as always providing the anchorage around the falling wickets while Yousuf Pathan played a blinder of an innigs scoring 48 off 18 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
This means that Rajasthan Royals are the first team to book their place in the semi-finals while Kolkata are all but out. They have to win their last two matches and can only hope to have a miraculous mathematical possibility to still make it
