BCCI not invited by Gavaskar

buy books online

The BCCI have been kept out of the celebrations for the silver jubilee anniversary of India’s 1983 World Cup win. The event is being organized by Sunil Gavaskar’s event management company, Professional Management Group.

The BCCI hasn’t been invited because the event has been cited as a personal event by the former India player and for obvious reasons because certain players of the then Indian team have joined ranks with the rebel league ICL. These include Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Sandeep Patil amongst others.

Both Sunny and Kapil are co-ordinating with each other to make the arrangements and have confirmed that the BCCI will be absent. The Board on the other hand has stated that since it was a private event, they are not doing anything on their part to facilitate the players either.

As part of the celebrations, all squad members will be involved in four six-a-side matches across the country next month. Dubai will host a dinner function on June 19 before the big party hosted by Gavaskar at the Long Room at Lord’s six days later.
