Kings XI Punjab beat Mumbai Indians by one run in the closest match of the IPL tournament so far at the Wankhede.
Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to field first like they have been doing so far in the competition. However, their bowling didn’t come off the blocks that well this time around and as a result, they faltered in restricting the Punjab team who went on to score 189 in their allotted overs. Yuvraj failed once more but Shaun Marsh and Luke Pomersbach did all the hard work as they stroked another round of half centuries.
The home team started well with Tendulkar top scoring with a well made 65, but none or the other batsmen could cross 30 and thus didn’t support him adequately. There were five run outs in the innings, three of those coming in the last over. The running was shoddy and the calling even more pathetic. Even Tendulkar was himself run out and Yuvraj pointed that out to be the turning point of the match as the Mumbai team went on to self-destruct.
Kings XI have now more or less made it to the semi-finals while Mumbai Indians need to buck up their socks in the last three matches.
