Delhi DareDevils play the Mumbai Indians in their last game of the league phase at the Feroz Shah Kotla today.
In what is a match of extreme importance, the Delhi DareDevils face a must win situation if they are to have any hopes of progressing to the next round. Even if they win, they will need some other results, especially those of Mumbai and Chennai to also go in their favour so that a possibility of a semi-final spot comes in play.
Delhi captain Virender Sehwag will be hoping that his top order comes good one more time, after having failed against the same opposition back in their last meeting in Mumbai. Much of the onus will lie on the Orange Cap bearer, Gautam Gambhir and the captain himself, while the middles order will also be expected to fire. At the same time, he would also want his faster bowlers to fire and rock the top order of the opposition.
The situation is not so desperate for the Mumbai Indians, but it will become so if they do not win tonight. They still have two more matches to go and unless they win both the remaining matches after a loss today, they will find themselves out of the knock out phase to be held in Mumbai.
It’s Sachin versus McGrath again today and expect some fireworks as the fast bowler seems to be relishing the challenge to bowl at the master batsman once again.
