The Mumbai Indians have lodged a complaint against third umpire Suresh Shastri over aomse of the run out decisions made by him during the Mumbai-Mohali match held on 21st March. Mumbai on account of these decisions lost to Mohali by one run.
The first decision of giving Luke Pomersbach not-out on account of unsurity of whether the ball hit the stumps directly or whether Dwayne Smith knocked the stumps remained unconvincing. Pomersbach was given not-out and went on to lay a solid foundation for the Kings XI by scoring 71.
The second decision was for their own batsman Smith, who was declared run-out when Piyush Chawla seemd to have knocked the stumps off with his arm while ball was in his hands. Although the replays were unclear, Smith was given out.
Tendulkar seemed pretty irritated with the situation as if the decisions were in Mumbai’s favour, the result of the match would have been different.
On hearing about the allegations, Shastri said that he had simply followed the law.
