Bangalore win as Hyderabad jinx remains

It seemed that the jinx would be broken when the Deccan Chargers as their opening pair of Gilchrist and Gibbs scored 100 runs in 69 balls or when their scoreboard read 150 runs in 17 overs. The hosts seemed to be going strong and were on their way of scoring almost 180-200 runs until Vinay Kumar struck and virtually took the game away from them. The middle order collapsed and the tail completely made a mess of things clearly showing that their team was not at all motivated. Steyn and Kohli took 2 wickets each while Kumble added one wicket to his kitty.

On the other side, the Bangalore side was seen playing collectively as all their batsmen gave decent performes, only exception being Jaffer who first got himself run-out and then got Kallis run out as a substitute runner. Dravid’s team never lost time and kept in control of the asking run-rate. Kallis, Misbah-ul-haq, Dravid and White all got to the 30s but the hero was Akhil who scored 27 of only 7 balls to take the game away from the hosts in the end. His 27 included 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Vinay Kumar was declared Man of the Match for his 3 wickets of Gilchrist, Sharma and Venugopal Rao and giving away just 27 runs in his allotted 4 overs.

Bottomline, Hyderabad Deccan Chargers are yet to win a match at home and have one match to play against Chennai at home which will decide if Chennai go through to the semi-finals. For the Chargers, it will only try to save some face by trying to win the last match and ending the competition with some dignity.
