It’s D-Day and the Delhi Daredevils will be playing Rajasthan Royals today. Both teams look pepped up and the favourites at this point are Rajasthan Royals who top the league points table with 22 points with a large margin compared to Delhi who are at 15 points.
It should be noted that Rajasthan lost to Delhi in their first match. Apart from Delhi, they have lost only to Punjab and Mumbai. Later, Rajasthan defeated Delhi with their home crowd support and Shane Watson’s thundering batting.
While Shane Warne showed composure and resiliance as a captain throughout the series, Sehwag was more successful as a batsman than a captain. Shane has been appreciated as a captain and his performance in terms of bowling is also no doubt been very good. In fact, there are rumours that we might be back in the Australian Team for the Ashes tour next year against England.
One worry for Delhi at this point is Sohail Tanvir who is not only the highest wicket taker at IP, but is also going to play the daredevils for the first time.
Smith, Swapnil Asnodkar, Tanvir, Ravindra Jadeja and Warne who rested for The Royals during the last league game between Rajasthan and Punjab will definately play today’s match as they have been consistent performers. Niraj Patel’s excellent performance will probably help him replace out of form Kaif.
It is believed that the first five overs played by whoever bats first will decide the outcome of the game. Both the teams have excellent performances in the first five overs on average. Delhi though, has an uppe rhand with a higher scoring average in initial overs thanks to Sehwag’s and Gambhir’s batting style.
Shane Warne
He has played 15 Twenty20 matches, bowled 312 balls , given away 400 runs and taken 18 crucial wickets. His batting average is 12.16 runs.
Virender Sehwag
He has played 32 matches and in his 31 innings, he has scored 777 runs at an average of over 24 runs and a strike rate of over 157. His highest is 94 runs.
On the bowling side, he has bowled in 16 matches, taken 16 wickets conceding 345 runs from 252 balls.
While Delhi rest on the laurels of Glenn McGrath and their opening pair of Sehwag and Gambhir, Rajasthan have superb bowlers like Sohail Tanvir and a strong batting lineup which includes Graeme Smith, Shane Watson and Yusuf Pathan.
