The 2008-09 season begins with a tri-series with Bangladesh hosting two of its cricketing superpower neighbours, India and Pakistan. From many of the two teams’ players, it means that they will be returning back to ‘normal cricket’ from the fast paced T20s of the IPL.
Bangladesh will look at pulling off an upset or two over their much hallowed neighbours but it is going to be a tough ask for them considering that they haven’t done too well under new captain Mohd. Ashraful. Still, their best chance lies with the weather and D/L method helping them out.
India and Pakistan though have a lot to play for. Shoaib Ahmed will be looking to do better than the last time his team faced the Indians in an ODI series which they lost 3-2. Team India will look to get their season off to a bright start as they play a lot of cricket in the coming one year, including upto 12 test matches.
Three matches will be played in Dhaka while the final is at Mirpur on 14th June. Expect the rain gods to have a say in the outcome of the tournament.
