Bangalore Royal Challengers
Charu Sharma hits back
Former CEO of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Charu Sharma, during a book release, said he could not understand how his sacking benefitted the team. The sports presenter/commentator was sacked from the post midway through the Indian Premier League (IPL), when the Royal Challengers failed to mount a serious challenge to the title.
He was despondent that certain owners could not understand that cricket was a game and their responsibility was to provide for the team. They can only do so much as to select the team and provide the facilities required for winning. Beyond that, nobody could manufacture how a game would pan out, and certainly not in the fast paced scenario of T20.
"I was a victim of impatience or lack of understanding of what Twenty20 is and ownership is all about," he said.
