Just 22 overs were possible before bad light stopped play on the first day of the first test between India and Sri Lanka at the SSC, Colombo. Much of the first two sessions had been already wasted as the outfield was sloshy from heavy overnight rains.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first but were shocked soon as their opening batsman Vandort was out for just 3 runs. Then Warnapura was joined by Sangakkara and the duo added fifty runs before Sangakkara was snapped up by Zaheer Khan.
Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh were the other two bowlers as Anil Kumble did not bowl himself in the 22 overs possible. The match was halted due to bad light immediately after Warnapura completed his fifty, as the score read 85/2.
