Murali and Mendis rout India to win 1st Idea Cup Test

The 1st Idea Cup Test Match between India and Sri Lanka was all about Muralitharan and Mendis. Not only did both these bowlers rout India, but they will be the cause of Indian nightmares for a long time.

Sri Lanka remained on top of the Indians throughout the match, specially after Warnapura, Jayawardene, Samaraweera and Dilshan scored a century each giving the Sri Lankans a mammoth total of 600/6 after which they declared.

Although the Indians were never expected to out-do their performance, no one expected the team to fall like a deck of cards. Indians were first knocked out for 223 and in their second innings after follow-on were even severely thrashed by the Lankan bowlers to fall for 138. The Indians barely managed ro cross half-way and apart from Gambhir and Laxman, no batsmen could hold guard even for one session.

Indians lost by an innings and 239 runs.
