India won the toss against Sri Lanka in the second test match at Galle and on a pitch that is expected to break down and start spinning from the 2nd day onwards, the visitors decided to bat first. Both the teams are unchanged for the game.
For the Indians, the biggest test will be facing the double threat of spinners Ajantha Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan, who blew them away in the first test. In the first session though, the Indian openers had put the hosts on a backfoot as both Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag started positively.
At the end of 25 overs, India reached 133 for no loss, as Sehwag was batting at 81 n.o with a strike rate of more than a hundred and Gambhir with him at 43 n.o. Both the batsmen attacked the spinners and used their feet as much as possible.
