BCCI invites Middlesex for Champions League

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited English county Middlesex to participate in the inaugural Champions Twenty20 League in India.

Lalit Modi said last month that any county that has ICL players will not be invited to play in BCCI’s Champions League. Middlesex, which won the English Twenty20 Cup has no players from the rebel league.

Kent, who were the runners-up in the tournament, were not invited as they have two ICL players in their ranks in the form of Azhar Mahmood (Lahore Badshahs) and Justin Kemp (Hyderabad Heroes). Hence, Sialkot from Pakistan has been invited to take its place.

It was announced on Wednesday that eight teams will take part in the Champions League to be held in India from September 29 to October 6. Two teams each from India, South Africa and Australia will take part and the remaining two teams will be confirmed later.
