The Champions Twenty20 League announced in Mumbai on Wednesday does not fall under any agreement with the ICC, claims a Cricket Australia official.
“I’m aware about the concern raised by the ICC but the said tournament is not falling under ICC’s Participating Nations Agreement (PNA),” Peter Young, Cricket Australia’s general manager said in Melbourne on Thursday.
“The Champions Trophy organised by the ICC is competitive cricket while the Champions League is a sort of domestic circuit. And even if the ICC has reservations about it, our chairman (Creagh O’Connor) will tackle the issue,” he added.
Cricket Australia has also sought legal advice on this issue with their expert Dean Kino, who along with the CEO James Sutherland was in India on Wednesday.
