The International Cricket Council (ICC) might soon be sued by its broadcast partner ESPN-STAR Sports, getting into more trouble over the already much debated upon Champions League T20.
The broadcaster will go to court if the ICC authorises the BCCI-backed Champions Twenty20 League to be held in India later this year. While no confirmation is available, sources have told CNN-IBN that the channel have argued that the tournament cannot be described as a domestic event since three boards are involved in promoting the event - BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa.
ESPN have paid 1.2 billion dollars for the telecast rights to all ICC events till 2015 and clearly their biggest worry is that with the Champions Trophy likely to be a damp squib as large scale pull-outs are expected, sponsors will flock to the T20 carnival.
