India win 2nd test;level series

India avenged their defeat in the first test by registering a 170 run victory against Sri Lanka at Galle and that too inside four days.

Set 301 to win the match and with two days to play, Sri Lanka were never in it after they faltered from the very beginning of the chase as they lost 3 wickets for just 10 runs. They were later reduced to 37 for 4 before Samaraweera and Dilshan put together 76 runs for the next wicket and delayed the inevitable.

As the match went into the final session of the fourth day, Ishant Sharma took Dilshan to take 3 for 20 in this innings and then Bhajji and Kumble quickly cleaned up the tail. The match was won by a huge 170 runs as Harbhajan Singh took his match tally to ten wickets.

Virender Sehwag was declared the man of the match.
