Baichung Bhutia scored a brace as India stormed into the semifinals of AFC Challenge Cup with an impressive 2-1 victory over Turkmenistan at the Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday.
The Indian captain sizzled in slushy conditions and the sizeable Sunday crowd were treated to some exhilarating action after he pumped in two stunners in the second half to knock out Turkmenistan. India topped the group with seven points and were joined by defending champions Tajikistan, who thrashed Afghanistan 4-0 at the Lal Bahadur Stadium.
Bhutia, who scored his third goal of the tournament, was happy with India’s performance. And is all ready for the big test ahead. “I don’t mind if we would be playing against Myanmar or DPR Korea in the last four. Our focus is to win against any of these rivals and win the tournament,” he said.
