India were staring down the barrell at tea in the third test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Having elected to bat first, all the known batsmen were gone after a short stint at the wicket for each of them. The visitors lost six wickets before tea was takenĀ and with just 190 runs on the board, Sri Lanka has won both the sessions so far and is already in the driver’s seat in the match.
Gautam Gambhir played the lone hand as he scored a fluent 72 but only 76 runs came from the fabulous four as Dravid went for 10, Sachin for 6, Ganguly for 35 while Laxman was last man out before the break with 25 runs to his name. Earlier Sehwag was out to debutant Dhammika Prasad who also acocunted for Dravid and Tendulkar.
Muralitharan then accounted for Ganguly as he was caught at slips for the third time in the series, all three dismissals of faster off breaks. Mendis then got Laxman for the fourth time in the series as he was marginally stumped.
It all depends on how long can the tail wag now, as Sri Lanka will also bat when the pitch is at its best.
