Monika cleared but its too late
Weightlifter Monika Devi was cleared of doping charge but Indian Olympics Association said its too late for her to be able to participate in the Games.
“Too late for Monika to come to Beijing. We have withdrawn Monika’s name from the contingent”, said IOA secy general Randhir Singh. IOA verdict comes after SAI reportedly cleared Monika Devi on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Manipur CM had appealed to the PMO to intervene on Monika’s behalf. It thus seems that politics in Indian sport has taken yet another victim.
