Sri Lanka continued to hold a strong hand in the third test against India at Colombo as they built on the platform provided by their bowlers yesterday.
At lunch, Sri Lanka had won the fourth session in a row in this test match as the lost only Michael Vandort to Zaheer Khan and added 100 runs in one session to reach 114 for 2. This leaves them only 135 runs short of the Indian total and with the pitch continuing to play as flat as possible, the Sri Lankans can hope for a run feast. This has also been made possible by the poor bowling and fielding from the Indians as Rahul Dravid dropped Sangakkara off the bowling of Kumble.
Chaminda Vaas played his part as he frustrated the bowlers batting more as a number 3 than a night watchman as he closed upon the double feat of 300 wickets and 3000 runs in tests.
