Sri Lanka won the third test against India at the PSS ground in Colombo by eight wickets and that too inside eight days.
On the fourth day, India started a fight back with Dravid and Laxman at the crease, but Dravid was out once he got his fifty. Laxman though carried on reaching his own fifty and was stranded at one end while the rest of the wickets fell at the other end. India just about managed to lead by 121 runs.
With a lot of time to play, Sri Lanka started their chase in a calm and collected manner. But with Ishant injured, Harbhajan Singh opened the bowling with Zaheer and the two of them struck early blows to reduce the hosts to 22 for 2. But Warnapurna and Jayawardene struck fifties to take them home and win the series 2-1.
Kumar Sangakkara got the man of the match award and Ajantha Mendis was declared the man of the series.
