India’s lone qualifier in the men’s archery event Mangal Singh Champia lost in the pre-quarters to B Badenov of Russia in the men’s individual archery event at the Beijing Olympics. He didn’t have much luck in the closing stages as he lost by a margin of single point only.
Champia had a great start to his Olympic campaign as he defeated his opponent Vaezi Hojjatolah of Iran with a convincing margin of 112-98 in the first round.
This means that the Indian challenge in the archery events at the Olympics is now over.
