Indian grappler Yogeshwar Dutt squandered the lead in the third and final round to lose the wrestling quarter-final tie of the 60kg free style category against Kenichi Yumoto of Japan on Tuesday. With this, another medal slipped out of India’s hand after Akhil Kumar’s loss in boxing quarters yesterday. In both the competitions, losing semifinalists get a bronze, so that could have been two medals assured in the least.
Dutt made a good start, winning the first round 1-0 but his opponent bounced back to win the second, earning four points to draw parity.
The Indian wrestler again went ahead 1-0 in the third round but failed to hold on to the lead in the last 10 seconds and gave away two match winning points to his opponent to lose 2-1.
Earlier in the day, Dutt had beaten Kazakhstan’s Baurzhan Orazgaliyeb 3-1.
