Delhi CM awards Sushil 50 lacs

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit gave a cash award of Rs.50 lakhs for Olympic bronze medal winning wrestler Sushil Kumar.

“It is a great achievement for Sushil. He is the new icon for Delhi and I will give him a cash award of Rs.5 million. If he doesn’t have a job I will provide him with one and if he has one he will get an out-of-turn promotion. His coach Satpal will also get promotion,” Dixit declared.

Sushil defeated Leonid Spiridonov of Kazakhstan in the men’s freestyle (66kg) repechage round to grab the bronze. This is the third medal for India at the Beijing Olympics after shooter Abhinav Bindra claimed the first ever individual Olympic gold for India and boxer Vijender Kumar made it to the 75 kg semis to assure India of another medal.
