India’s only boxer left in the competition Vijender Kumar lost the semi finals in the 75 kg middleweight category to Cuban Emilio Correa Bayeaux in Beijing.
The Indian tried to fight off the attacking Cuban initially with tight defense but was not able to attack enough in the end and lost 5-8.
He had to settle for the bronze only as the Indian tally at the Beijing Olympics increased to three that include one gold and two bronze, after Abhinav Bindra won gold and wrestler Sushil Kumar got bronze to get the best ever result for India at the Olympics.
