After two weeks of mesmerizing action and some quite stunning ceremonies, the Beijing Olympics 2008 came to an end on Sunday. This was a successful culmination of the 29th Olympics of the modern era.
An hour-long pre-ceremony featured sequences with Fuwa, the mascot, as the creative theme. Then followed pyrotechnics and display, which only the Chinese could have provided. Using imagery and technology of the highest level, they have now taken Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics to new heights.
China topped the gold tally with 51, leaving the United States way behind second with 36 gold, but they are ahead overall at 110.
Boxing bronze medalist Vijender Singh carried India’s flag at the closing ceremony.

The Olympic Games are a major international event featuring summer and winter sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. The Games are currently held every two years in even-numbered years, with Summer and Winter Olympic Games alternating, although they occur every four year within their respective games. Originally, the ancient Olympic Games were held in Olympia, Greece, from the 8th century BC to the 5th century AD. Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894.
The IOC is responsible for choosing the host city for each Olympic Games. The host city is responsible for organizing and funding a celebration of the Games consistent with the Olympic Charter. The Olympic program, consisting of the sports to be contested at each Olympic Games, is also determined by the IOC. The celebration of the Games encompasses many rituals and symbols, such as the Olympic flag and the torch, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.
Olympic momentum initially is pure sport. However, when considered in detail, that important momentum has other aspects, such as politics and economics, such as Lenovo and GE may have benefited from their Olympic sponsorship.. In 2000, Australia as host of the Olympics spent billions U.S. dollars to build sports stadiums, hotels and infrastructure associated with these games. In 2004, Greece also spent more than ten billions U.S. dollars. In 2008, China spent most spectacular compared with other countries. Bamboo Curtain Country was reaching into the fund more than 40 billions U.S. dollars.

Beijing Olympic 2008 Opening Ceremony
China successfully presented the most dramatic and successful Olympics. In Beijing Olympics, there were more than 40 new world records and 120 Olympic records created. 2008 Olympics could also be an effective means to abandon all distinctions, such as the culture and religion. Besides, Beijing Olympics also tried to raise awareness of environmental issues.
For example: Since July, Beijing government applied the rules of vehicle reduction, moved some factories in Beijing and closed some other during the Olympics in order to erode pollution drastically.
China is a country with the highest population in the world. However, the entire Chinese people were very enthusiastic in terms of organizing a successful Olympic Games, unlike the citizens of Greece who before the Olympic 2004, began a strike demanding higher salaries and huge bonuses during the Olympics. These are some points we can learn from the Chinese from Beijing Olympic 2008.
