Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi feels Adam Gilchrist would make a better skipper for the Deccan Chargers team in the next IPL season as VVS Laxman, who led the team in the inaugural edition, lacks leadership qualities required for the fast paced T20 cricket. Come to think of it, he has a point.
Hyderabad Deccan Chargers was the last placed team in the highly successful inaugural Indian Premier League tournament inspite of boasting some of the best players, Adam Gilchrist, Shahid Afridi, Andrew Symmonds, Herschelle Gibbs, Chaminda Vaas, VVS Laxman and Scott Styris. Simply put, this was the most expensive team in the IPL and it came a cropper.
“Gilchrist was one of the two most successful players for us in the season alongwith Rohit Sharma. He played some really good innings and his input was very good at times on the field. If they do appoint Adam as captain I think he would be a better choice than Laxman,” Afridi said.
“At times Laxman lost the plot on the field. Twenty20 cricket is not his forte. Adam is more comfortable in this type of cricket. It is the captain who has to deliver on the field under pressure the players look to him. The coach’s role is restricted to motivating the players.”

I THING GILCHRIST IS THE BEST CAPTAN IN IPL.NOT VVS.AND GILCHRIST ROCK.I LOVE YOU GILLY.
