The Indian Cricket League (ICL) rubbished reports that it was planning to stage a Twenty20 ‘World Cup’ type of tournament and was trying to sign up cricketers from England, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand and India.
“The reports are not true. We have no such plans nor have we approached any of the players from any country to sign for us. It is totally rubbish to assume that we are planning for any such ‘World Cup’ when we are all set to go ahead with our annual Twenty20 tournament,” former Indian stumper and now a board member of the ICL, Kiran More said.
A number of English cricketers are set to join the rebel league after announcing their retirement from the respective counties. Among the English cricketers who are said to be the targets of the rebel league are Graeme Hick, Darren Gough, Ali Brown, Dominic Cork, Robert Croft, Chris Adams, Mark Ramprakash and Mark Ealham.
