Visitors Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) fast bowler Imran Ali ruined Ranji champions Delhi’s opening day of the domestic season with six wickets including a hat-trick in his first ever game on Indian soil at the Feroz Shah Kotla here on Monday.
Delhi, packed with international stars, were folded out for a measly 134 on the first day of the Mohammad Nissar Trophy under overcast conditions which saw the game being stopped twice due to rain. But the defending champions came out with a strong reply, leaving Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy winners on 143-6 at stumps, a first innings lead of nine runs.
The nippy 27-year-old right-arm pacer demolished a powerful Delhi batting order, with only Virat Kohli, who top-scored with 52, and Mithun Manhas (49) being the only two batsmen reaching double figures, after captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and elected to bat on a flat but lively Kotla surface.
