In an important landmark in Indian sport, National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL) on Sunday received accreditation from World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) during the global body’s Executive Committee meeting in Montreal, Canada. WADA said NDTL has fulfilled all the requirements of the accreditation process monitored by the Agency’s Laboratory Working Committee.

NDTL now becomes the 34th such laboratory in the world and seventh in Asia. Six other WADA-certified laboratories in Asia are in Beijing, Penang (Malaysia), Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok and Ankara (Turkey).

“The Executive Committee approved the accreditation of the new laboratory in New Delhi, India. The National Dope Testing Laboratory has successfully completed the requirements of the WADA accreditation process monitored by the Agency’s Laboratory Working Committee,” WADA said in a release from its headquarters, Montreal.

“The New Delhi laboratory thus becomes the 34th WADA accredited laboratory in the world.”
