The Hyderabad Heroes have seen a meteoric rise in the ICL in just three tournaments. After a lackluster performance at the inaugural ICL 20s tournament & ICL 50s, this team raised their game for the Edelweiss 20s Challenge and in the best of three finals beat the Lahore Badshahs 2-0, a team that hadn’t lost previously in the tournament.
The Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium at Hyderabad is their home ground and it witnessed some pretty good attendances for the ICL during the Edelweiss T20s. They are represented by the supremely talented prodigal batsman Ambati Rayudu who is ably supported by a flurry of internationally acclaimed all-rounders of the likes of Abdul Razaq, Chris Harris & Nicky Boje, who are all ideally suited for this short format of cricket. The signing of South African international Justin Kemp last year was a great move for them and paid rich dividends in winning the Edelweiss Challenge.
Their domestic players Shashank Nag and medium pacer Kaushik Reddy came good in the ICL 50s, thus proving their bench strength. The Heroes will prove to be tough opponents for rival sides at the Grand Championship.
Hyderabad Heroes are coached by former New Zealand coach Steve Rixon.
Squad: Chris Harris (captain), Abdul Razzaq, Alfred Absolom, Ambati Rayudu, Anirudh Singh, Ibrahim Khaleel (wk), Inder Shekhar Reddy, Jimmy Maher, Justin Kemp, Kaushik Reddy, Nicky Boje, PS Niranjan, Shashank Nag, Stuart Binny, Syed Sahabuddin, Vinay Kumar, Zakaria Zulfi.
