India vs Australia, 1st Test: Australia going steady
Australia won the first session of the test series on the morning of the first test against India at the chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.
Electing to bat first the Aussies reached 70 for one at the stroke of lunch, with Zaheer Khan taking the only wicket to fall, that of Hayden. After lunch, Ponting and Katich continued their watchful partnership which has now swelled past more than a hundred runs.
Ricky Ponting has scored a rare fifty in India and is batting on 61 with Katich on 39, as after 41 overs, Australia have reached 106 for one. Both Kumble and Harbhajan have been wicketless so far.
