India vs Australia, 1st Test: Australia lead by 263 runs

buy books online

Australia assumed control of the first test as they gained a 263 run lead by the end of the fourth day of the first test against India at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

Scorecard

In the final session, India seemed to have kept Australia under the leash, with regular wickets. But in the second half, they let it drift when Kumble brought himself on. Along with a tired Harbhajan from the other end, the intensity dipped somewhat. Kumble bowled flat, looking to contain more than take wickets, and the fielding also let up a bit.

Shane Watson and Brad Haddin, meanwhile capitalised, hustling between the wickets, and not missing out on scoring opportunities. They have put Australia back in control with five wickets in hand. It will be interesting to see when the Australian captain wishes to declare.
