Delhi Giants registered a comfortable six-wicket win over Lahore Badshahs at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium here on Sunday.
Despite losing three wickets in a shaky start to their target of 148, an 80-run third wicket partnership between Syed Abbas Ali and Abhinav Bali (47) shored the Giants home with nine balls to spare, even as Inzamam had Abbas Ali stumped for a well-compiled 52, on a day which belonged to Delhi’s young left-arm spinner, Ali Murtaza.
Murtaza captured 4-7 in a stunning display of slow left-arm bowling as Lahore’s batting fell apart by the 13th over, when they lost half their side with just 63 runs on the board, before Azhar Mahmood’s blitzkrieg 67 from 39 balls enabled the Badshahs put up a total for their bowlers to defend.
Mahmood, the former Pakistan all-rounder, smashed five sixes and five fours in his unbeaten knock which didn’t prove to be enough for the Giants. The bowlers were to blame, as Lahore leaked 15 extras despite having three Delhi batsmen back in the dug-out early.
