India v Australia, 3rd Test: Review

Both India and Australia would be looking to draw positives from the drawn test at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla.

Australia would be very happy that they were able to grind out the Indian bowlers and hold on for a draw. This result would be a great boost for them especially since all their premier batsmen got runs and now can look ahead at the fourth test with renewed anticipation. If India slip up, they will be ready to pounce.

For that however, they will have to sharpen their bowling a bit. If the new stadium in Nagpur lays out a green top similar to last time, then they will again have a chance to level the series.

India will be taking more positives from this test than their opponents but they have also lost a lot. While Gambhir and Laxman’s innings mean that they now have a batting order which is now fully in form, coupled with Tendulkar and Ganguly, but they now have lost a big stalwart of Indian cricket. Anil Kumble’s retirement means that India will now have to redraw their bowling plans all over again and thus, will present opponents in the near future with a way out when the rest of the bowlers fail. The hosts need Harbhajan Singh to be fit for the test in Nagpur, starting 6th November.
