India thrash Australia, win series 2-0

In a match filled with controversy and media slamming, Dhoni took his men home convincingly by thrashing the Aussies to a 172 run win and winning the series 2-0. India regained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and truly emerged on top as they won their first test series against the Aussies after 2001.

The match also saw emotions at the end of the day as India’s most successful captain Sourav Ganguly bid farewell to his International career. He was also joined by Anil Kumble who had declared retirement after the third test in New Delhi. As a gesture of goodwell, Dhoni gave Sourav the control after Australia lost their 9th wicket. Sourav, being the sportsman that he is, acknowledged Dhoni’s gesture and also started arranging the field and speaking to bowlers during the brief time that he took charge today.

The Aussies were given the target of 382 were dismissed for 209, thanks mainly to Harbhajan, Mishra and Ishant. While Harbhajan tool 4 wickets, Mishra took 3 and Ishant took 2. Ishant Sharma was named Man of the Series, while Harbhajan was the top wicket taker with 15 wickets. Gautam Gambhir, although missing this match, was the top scorer of the series with 463 runs in 6 innings.

Krezja was man of the match for his 12 wicket haul.
