India v Australia, 4th Test: Review

buy books online

India beat Australia 2-0 and regained the Border Gavaskar Trophy in style and this heralds a new world order in world cricket.

Australia are no more the dominant force that they were once. It is now very clear that Ricky Ponting is an ordinary captain who squandered the chance to win a test in Bangalore and Nagpur. And by his own admission he was always chasing the Indian team. What compounded the problem was that he put himself before the team and this will now always haunt him, his record not withstanding.

His problems were also increased since the Aussies no longer have the fire power in their bowling anymore. Since the retirement of Warne and McGrath this has been long in the offing. And now with their batsmen also losing out suddenly, this is no more a world beating team and will have problems a plenty in their series against South Africa and NewZealand.

India on the other hand are on the rise and with a new captain at the helm, they have the potential to become world beaters. There may have been a change in guard with Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly and thus the next series against England becomes very important as it will mark the coming of new players in the team.

It means that an exciting time lies in front of Indian cricket and under the leadership of Dhoni, the series win against Australia is only the beginning.
