India v England, 1st ODI: India win by 158 runs

India beat England by 158 runs in the first ODI at Rajkot to take a 1-0 lead in the seven match series.

England won the toss and chose to field first and they were made to regret this decision almost instantly. Sehwag and Gambhir made a great start bringing up the hundred for India in the 17th over. But after they got out, Yuvraj Singh took charge of the proceedings and sent the English bowlers on a chase all over the park. He hit an electric ton off just 64 balls ending up with 138 runs and 6 sixes.

In reply, the target of 388 overs proved to be too much for the English batsmen. Zaheer Khan took 3 for 46 as he and Munaf first reduced them to 38 for 4 before a half century from Kevin Pieterson just about delayed the inevitable.

22 sixes were hit in the first match of the series which only shows that we have an exciting time ahead of us.
