India were strongly placed at the end of the 30th over though they just lost Gautam Gambhir for a well made half century.
The left hander was in princely touch as he scored 70 runs off 76 balls with 6 fours and 1 six as he and Yuvraj Singh batted to save India from doom. The former Indian vice captain was not out on 74 off 79 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes.
Earlier India won the toss and elected to bat first but lost Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma in quick succession.
