After bundling England for 302 runs, India made 134 runs for 4 wickets and took a lead of 285 runs at the close of day’s play in Mohali. Gautam Gambhir (44 n.o) and Yuvraj Singh (39 n.o) will resume batting on the final day at the PCA Stadium.

Indian openers Gambhir and Sehwag stretched India’s first innings lead of 151 to 181 runs before the latter fell short of the crease while stealing a quick single. Rahul Dravid, who slammed a ton in the first innings, failed to open his account in the second outing as he was clean bowled by Stuart Broad. Next to go was Sachin Tendulkar who was dismissed by James Anderson. Sachin steered a delivery going outside the off-stump to Graeme Swann at gully for 5 runs. Laxman joined Gambhir post Sachin’s exit and added 36 runs for the fourth wicket. But like Sehwag, he too was caught napping between the wickets and walked back for 15 runs.

Earlier, dense fog at the PCA Stadium delayed the start by two hours. England, who resumed batting with the overnight score of 282/6, finished their innings adding just 20 runs at the loss of their remaining four wickets. Harbhajan hurried England’s fall with a four-wicket haul.
