Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders has called former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s son Mohammad Asaduddin for a three-day trial at the Eden Gardens from January 5.

“He has been recommended by one of our talent scouters. We will see how he shapes up during the trial,” Kolkata Knight Riders team director Joy Bhattacharya told IANS by phone.

Nineteen-year-old Asaduddin, Azhar’s elder son, is a right hand batsman who also bowls off-spin.

Asad would be among 40 youngsters to take part in the trial.

Asked how many youngsters would be chosen from the trials, Bhattacharya said: “That will depend on whether somebody turns out to be really good. Otherwise we already have a strong team.”
