The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Indian team, which will leave for its tough tour of Sri Lanka on Monday, had a four-hour practice session at the floodlit MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday.
After arriving in the coastal city in batches, the players turned up for the practise session under coach Gary Kirsten and bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad. Sachin Tendulkar was seen in action at the nets for over 40 minutes as pacers Irfan pathan, Munaf Patel and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ohja bowled to him in spells. Other cricketers including opening batsman Gautam Gambhir, skipper Dhoni and Rohit Sharma also had their batting practice in the net.
The 15-member team, which will play a five-match ODI series commencing from January 28, will have another practice session on Monday morning. The squad will leave for Sri Lanka later on Monday.
