India vs Sri Lanka ODI Series Preview

buy books online

India and Sri Lanka go head to head in the five match ODI series starting on Wednesday with a day game at Dambulla.

Sri Lanka have been playing some cricket this year as they started with a test series against Bangladesh and then a tri series against them alongwith Zimbabwe, both of which they won easily. They then visited Pakistan for the ODI leg of their tour and beat them 2-1 in a thrilling series to be in good shape to face India at home. As always their batsmen will look to be in good form at home while the threat of Ajantha Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan. The only worry for them is the form of captain Mahela Jayawardene who has not scored a good score for quite some time now.

India on the other hand might be a bit rusty. They last played against England almost a month ago and since then they cancelled their tour of Pakistan due to security reasons. This series was then scheduled in place of the same tour to make up losses for the BCCI. They will be led by MS Dhoni again, under whom they scripted a 3-2 win earlier in September 2008 after they lost the test series 2-1. They have made a couple of changes to the squad but overall they look in good shape.

The first and the last match will be day matches while the middle three are all day-night affairs. The series will end with a T20 match on Feb. 10th.
