India and New Zealand go head to head in the 2nd T20 international at Wellington on Friday. India lost the first match at Christchurch by seven wickets after scoring more than 160 runs while batting first.
India batted well to reach that total after losing early wickets but their batsmen will have to show more restraint when hitting boundaries and sixes. That will be the biggest challenge for them. Also a couple of bowlers will be under the scanner especially Irfan Pathan after his poor bowling in the first match. Although there is news that team India won’t be changed after the first match, there is room for bringing in Munaf Patel or Praveen Kumar into the side in place of Irfan.
New Zealand will be all too happy at beating India the world champions in a T20 game. They have got off to a rollicking start to the second part of their summer and will like to build some momentum before the all important ODI and Test series.
New Zealand (likely): Brendon McCullum (wk), Martin Guptill, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, Jacob Oram, Neil Broom, Nathan McCullum, Daniel Vettori, Ian Butler, Tim Southee, Iain O’Brien.
India (likely): Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt & wk), Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma.
The match will begin at 11 am IST.
