Delhi Dare Devils beat Deccan Chargers by six wickets in the first match of the day at Centurion.
Delhi won the toss and elected to field first. Dwayne Smith top scored with 48 for the Chargers, left-arm pacers Dirk Nannes and Ashish Nehra sharing four wickets. Smith hit five fours and two sixes as he tried to give his bowlers something to work with. Nannes was later named as the man of the match after he had Adam Gilchrist (8) caught attempting to pull and Herschelle Gibbs (0) caught at mid-off by AB de Villiers.
Virender Sehwag (20) and Gautam Gambhir (17) failed to fire once again and when the in form de Villiers fell for five, the match was in the balance but Dilshan and Karthik took the Daredevils to the brink, Karthik falling in the over before Dilshan smashed the winning runs. Dilshan was unbeaten on 52 as the Daredevils reached 150 for four in with eight balls to spare after the Chargers had posted 148 for nine.
This was the first loss of the tournament for the Hyderabad team.
