Delhi Daredevils won by 12 runs in Durban as the Deccan Chargers collapsed from 86 for two to be bowled out for 161.

They lost seven wickets in 53 balls as despite a half-century from Adam Gilchrist as they set off at speed in pursuit of 174 to win, they fell short, Rajat Bhatia picking up four for 15. AB de Villiers (44), Dinesh Karthik (44 not out) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (37) all scored at quicker than a run a ball during the Delhi innings as they overcame the early loss of David Warner (4).

Dilshan faced just 18 balls and although returning captain Virender Sehwag made just 11, the Daredevils were able to post a competitive score. De Villiers faced 36 balls and Karthik 23 as Chaminda Vaas picked up two for 52 and Pragyan Ojha two for 26. Andrew Symonds and Dwayne Smith were the other men to pick up a wicket.

Gilchrist hammered 64 in 33 balls with five fours and five sixes but after he fell in the 11th over, the Chargers went into freefall, Pradeep Sangwan starting the collapse with three wickets for 18 runs. The left-armer removed the top three batsmen, fellow left-armers Ashish Nehra and Dirk Nannes picked up one wicket apiece leaving Bhatia to rip out the tail. Andrew Symonds made 41 in 22 balls but the Chargers needed him to stick around for much longer.

Delhi are now top of the table with 16 points from 10 games and Deccan Chargers have 12 points from 11 games.
