Indian team reaches London, practices at Lord’s
The Indian team led by MS Dhoni arrived arrived in London to defend their World Twenty20 title. The defending champions were welcomed at Heathrow airport by ICC officials, media and Indian fans.
The nucleus of the team is almost the same which won the inaugural T20 World Cup. India is scheduled to play two practice games against New Zealand and arch-rivals Pakistan before heading to Nottingham for their league games.
“2007 was of great importance for me. I played the final and we won the World Twenty20. Now we have come back two years later to defend our title. If we had been playing Tests and Twenty20, we would have had to adjust but we have been playing Twenty20, so we have the momentum which will really help us,” Yusuf Pathan said.
