India has won this match convincingly to gain the number 1 position in the ICC Test Rankings. Sehwag was named the Man of the Match and the Player of the Series for his suberb knocks including the 293 which he scored in the first innings of the final test that also helped India reach a massive 726 runs – a record Test total for India. His knock helped defeat Sri Lanka by an innings and 24 runs.
